Worth half the priceI bought this and the extender. The air deflector itself might work ok on a small vent, but it is VERY cheap plastic. The magnet didn't stick on my vent, partly because it's small and cheap, and partly because my vent is painted. But don't even think about using the extender. The only way to get it to stay together would be to glue it. Did I mention CHEAP?
I would give the deflector by itself 1 star, maybe stretch to 2. Add the extender and it goes to -5. After two minutes of trying to get the whole thing to stay together and stick to the vent, I just tossed it all in the trash. Wasn't even worth paying postage to return it.
Trouble is, I can't find any quality substitutes. Oh, and did I mention that it's CHEAP? Should sell for about a buck. If this is the "Deluxe" deflector, I wonder what the standard deflector is made of.
Really work well
The vents in my house are in some inefficient places, and these deflectors really help direct air where it's needed. The vertical vent on the wall in my upstairs hall blows quite a bit of air, but the one in the master bedroom does not. So I put a deflector on the hall vent to direct the air towards the bedroom and it literally made a 5 or 6 degree difference in the bedroom, I have a thermometer in there to measure it.
These deflectors aren't that sturdy or fancy, but they're made in the USA, are fairly unobtrusive, and work well. They're just clear plastic about the thickness of a CD jewel box but I really don't know what else would perform their function and look decent. If they get stepped on I don't think they'll hold up well, but they're only a few dollars each. Really, in "bang for the buck" these rate very high.
Keep in mind that when they come out of the box they are narrow and don't look like they can get wider, but they will slide open to fit standard heat vents.
The "filter" that ships with the deflector doesn't seem like much, it's just a piece of plastic with a mesh pattern in it, and it's not apparent how to attach it to the deflector. I didn't worry about it. I want maximum airflow out of each vent.
Deflector
Works as advertised. Now my curtains don't let me know when the air/heat is on. Redirects air away from windows, towards the middle of the room. Just what I was looking for.
I haven't noticed a difference
If this deflector is designed to help the distribution of warm air in my apartment, I haven't felt the difference yet. Perhaps better suited for vents on the wall or the floor, and not the ceiling.

I use these to keep direct air flow off my plants. They work like a charm.

Cat Litter Challenges!

It is recommended one cat litter box per cat and more if you have the room. If you have a multi-level house than a litter box on each floor is good. I am so glad that I have expanded to more cat litter boxes it works so much better.Â
Make sure your cats can access the litter box easily. I have two large cats and they need to get into the box easily and out of it. I was going to get a closed cat litter box but decided I just didn’t have room and both cats were too big. The open access is working but the smell problem had to be addressed.
Good idea to keep the litter box away from the food area and somewhat private for the cat.Â
In the past, I have hated cat litter because of the fine dust getting all over the place. I the 1990’s cat litter was not as fancy as it is today and my little apartment utility room was coated in this dust. I was noticing that my utility room has some dust but not as bad.Â
Well I have settled on Tidy Cat Multiple cat litter for the clumping. I have to be careful and not get anything with a perfume smell for it causes problems for me.  This cat litter does not end up around the house as badly as some others I have tried. It stills gets distributed in the paws but it is small grained and I can sweep it up easily.Â
I also use Lysol’s Neutra Air Sanitizing Spray – Citrus for odor control:

It keeps the smell under control by putting the used litter inside the top round blue area where the filter is housed. It catches the old litter in a plastic bag (biodegradeable bag). I open it on the front pushing the button (in the middle) and just lift out the inner workings (round blue hand on side) and dispose of the bag into the garbage. I put it into another bag just to make it easier to get it into the garbage.Â
