Fic: Close To You... Chapter Three

Michael groaned as he was handed his mail. He tipped it out on the floor and waved through it, he sighed looking at all of the pink envelopes with big love hearts on. He’d leave them for later, wondering how many he could get before he turned insane: or straight. He chuckled and picked up the white envelopes, reading them slowly. He kept all of his fan mail – he had a box for marital offers and a box for obsessive fans. He loved the admirable ones though. He picked up a brown envelope and opened it, humming to himself. The paper was school paper. He knew this paper too well. Everything he wrote when he was in his lessons was done on this paper. His study was full of it. You – well, you probably aren’t going to read this, either that or it gets lost in the post or something. But, yeah. Erm, I was really writing to say thank you for coming to our school today. (It’s the twentieth today, so whenever you get this letter, yeah. It was the McCauley High) you were really inspirational and it made me think that you- well, you’re my idol. I know this and have known it since I heard you sing and read the lyrics book explaining how you knew this is what you wanted to do no matter what and fight for it. It makes me envy you somewhat. I know that I can’t fight for it cause of what everyone in this crappy (excuse my language) town says. I would give anything to follow my heart and follow your footsteps. You probably don’t even remember me and don’t really care about my life, like I know a lot of people don’t. I'm Alexander and I play the drums. I was the one that asked you about the drummer and some other questions. Thank you for answering – it meant a lot to me. Michael put the letter down and smiled, it wasn’t every day he got a letter like that in the post. He couldn’t believe he could actually remember the boy as well; his smile had played through his mind. He sighed, knowing this schoolboy crush was impossible, he would never see him again. He put the letter and envelope to the side; it had a return address on it. He knew he was going to write back. He needed to keep that safe. The brief mumbling was heard from downstairs, he grabbed the bag the mail was in and put half of it in there. Smiling, he could recognise that voice from anywhere; Jason’s. He shook his head, knowing that he shouldn’t think of Jason like he did, he was a family friend and 13 years older than Michael. Maybe it wasn’t the feelings that he felt for him that made their bond stronger. Hell, Michael wasn’t sure he actually felt anything for Jason – he was just always there, looking out for him. He knew that Jason didn’t see him like that; they were both a warm body for each other to hold. “I'm fine, Jasey.” Michael chewed his lip; he knew that Jason would see right through him. He sighed as he saw Jason’s eyebrow quirk up. The older man sat down next to him and wrapped an arm around him, his hand resting on Michael's hip. Michael looked at him briefly before giving into the older man’s comforting body, resting against him; Jason’s fingers ran over Michael's hip, lifting the hoodie up slowly, Michael groaned, he knew Jason would do that. He felt the tears prick in his eyes, he knew Michael was strong, this wasn't right, he sighed. "How bad is it?"
