Tips have a vertical ribs to grip the spark plug boot to help break it loose. Swivel design for any angle of approach which allows the use of a lever block to pop the spark plug boot off. This tool works on all types of vehicles.Customer Reviews
Absolutely worthless itemI bought this item to change the spark plugs on a 2001 750iL where the spark plugs are deep in the engine and hard to reach anyway. The sockets are somewhat delicate to get off. Pulling the wiring might result in a broken socket what is about $250. There is not space for a hand either.
This tool doesn't work at all, cause it is too big to reach in to the tiny opening. The other problem is that the wiring has to be really long and thin to work with this too cause the outlet on the tool is all the way up. It will not work if you have a protective lining around the wiring. A third isssue is that the tool slips of the socket even if you apply a lot of force to the grips.
All in all this tool is a bis waste of money. For places you can reach by hand, you dont need it anywhere else it doesnt work. Don't waste your money on it.
Universal Long Reach Spark Plug Boot Puller by Schley
My advise is to pass on this tool.
The jaws of the tool come down straight from the pivot point. This prevents the tool from clamping squarely on the bottom of a spark plug boot. You a only squeezing the boot at the very top. It may have worked well for the thin boots found on the 1960s and earlier cars, but nothing that I own today.
The Lisle 51250 spark plug boot puller is cheaper and actually works.

Worked exactly as advertised! After spending nearly 5 hours trying to remove the boot and plug to change my spark plugs, the last one of 6 would not budge! I figured there HAD to be a better way. Well, there is, this cheap little tool lets you get leverage to get to the most awkward place on the back and within the first 2 minutes (with a lot of elbow grease), the boot was off. I was amazed! Whoever invented this tool knew exactly what was necessary to get the job done.

Nice Quality, Works as promised, Made in USANicely designed product. I could not find my old plug wire puller, and was looking at some at the local auto parts store, however all garbage made in China construction and design.
I am glad I waited and bought these off Amazon. I was concerned about the "teeth" on this tool, but they perfectly mount the plug wire boot, firmly and no cheap sharp metal.
These are smaller than I expected, they are 3 1/2" deep and the top handle full spread is 3", contact section about 1 1/4" spread. This ended up being perfect for my application which was to replace a spark plug on my rototiller. I definitely did not want to do that by "hand" which was too tight for my fingers to grasp firmly, and if I tore up that boot, I would be looking at mail ordering a specialty part and turning a quick plug replacement to a take apart repair.
They should provide a simple diagram to show how to grasp the plug wire, but you will quickly figure it out. The lower "teeth" go under the wire attached to the boot.
If you need a puller to go into a deep narrow place, this is not the product, but for the 90% of other application this is perfect. And for any tight old spark plug wires where no silicon grease was ever used, these make a fantastic grip, better than fingers.
Many people just hand pull plug wires, but that goes so long until you break apart a wire boot, it is basically like yanking an appliance cord out by the wire, not by the plug. Then a simple tune up means a trip to the local auto parts store for a repair job, or buying a costly unique wire for your lawn equipment. I learned that lesson when I was 17 working on my camaro, ALWAYS us a plug wire puller.
In summary, great product, Made in USA, impress your friends and customers by doing the job like a pro. A good analogy, these are your trusty pliers you use 90% of the time, not needle nose long reach ones you use less often. Basically your fingers have to get withing 3" of the plug boot, then a couple twists, and a clean pull with this product.
