Product Description

Like most people, you probably think all thermostats are alike. But Stant brand thermostats are different. They're the thermostats you ask for by name. And the superiority of Stant thermostats shows in the way they consistently outperform the competition. They are, quite simply, the best engineered thermostats in the world and here's why. The heart of the Stant brand thermostat is the ELAC heat motor. The unique properties of the heat motor result in a consistent and precise response to the cooling system's needs. This is achieved through the use of a precisely formulated, thermally expansive wax fill that is calibrated to operate within OEM requirements. The Stant heat motor is powered by a precisely formulated thermal responsive wax pellet in a heat conducting copper cup equipped with a stainless steel piston inside an elastomeric boot. The exact length of the stainless steel piston assures the prompt and precise operation of the thermostat valve. Each manufacturing process is rigidly controlled with world-class quality controls. Then a 100% calibration is conducted for each heat motor to guarantee quality and performance. Finally, the heat motor is placed in a stainless steel assembly consisting of a valve, flange, bridge and spring. The completed assembly provides a securely sealed, heat responsive valve that keeps engine temperatures within original equipment specifications. Our reverse poppet thermostats are engineered with a self-cleaning, self-aligning stainless steel valve. It's no wonder Stant is the original equipment choice of many automakers. So why take chances with anything less? Buy the world's best engineered thermostats from Stant.

Product Description

The Stant SuperStat Themostat out performs the Original Equipment themostat. Unlike the OE themostats that continually open and close to achieve the proper operation temperature and flood the engine with coolant, the Stant SuperStat has a patented V-notch, non linear design that reduces cycling by precisely metering the amount of coolant needed. the V-notch provides a small initial flow. As the engine heats up, the V-notches gradually open wider, metering coolant released into the system until the desired engine temperture is reached. The benefits of proper engine temperature control are: efficient engine operation, prolonged engine life, reduced oil consumption, improved fuel economy and improved emmisions. The SuperStat uses a high flow venturi for maximum cooling capacity during high temperature high load operation, and employes a patented Weir Valve, for percision flow metering during cold weather light load operation, to ensure stable temperature control under all conditions. The power element of the SuperStat is comparable to those used in the heavy duty trucking industry. It employs an actuator piston that is 25% larger than our standard themostat and 55% larger than competitive products. This larger heavy piston duty delivers one and one half times as much power as competitive stats for enhanced durability and longer life. The flange on the SuperStat is 33% thicker than our standerd product and 43% thicker than competitor's themostats for added strength and longer life. The operating spring is 50% stronger than on standard themostats. This helps return the Superstat to the closed position and provent cold running even under the most adverse operating conditions.

Customer Reviews

I thought my problem is over
After reading the amazing words in the description about the performance of this part compared to the oem, I expected that my problem with engine overheating has come to an end.
Unfortunately, that didn't happen. It does its job of accelerating the engine worm up well, but, on long journeys, the heat of the engine rises and the coolant vaporizes and escapes out of the coolant reservoir.
I had to uninstall it from my car. This makes my car take sometime to worm, but it never overheat.
I would not recommend this part to anyone, and I will not buy this brand again.

Route 15

I will be making the Route 15 trip from Harrisburg to Williamsport in a few days. I lived in York, Pa. from age 5-9. My parents are both from Williamsport, so we made the trip from Williamsport to York many times. So often that it's one of my most vivid memories. Thanks for blogging about this seemingly unremarkable stretch of road. I remember lying down in the back of our station wagon, in a "bed" with coloring books, a pillow and a flashlight; before the age of seatbelts. I knew the road mainly by it's sounds, and what I could see upside down through the back windows of the car. The best part was the bouncy "click,clack...click, clack" of the concrete segments. And me sliding toward the tailgate when we'd finally get to one of the passing zones, and gun it past a slowpoke. The smokestacks at the powerplant in Selinsgrove were always visible from the back of the station wagon; as were the radio towers (I think there are five) on the hill above Shamokin Dam. That's a traffic light now, but I think it used to be a flashing yellow caution before you turned left to start up the hill. Eventually, after what seemed like hours, the need to yawn as we climbed Montgomery Pike and the air pressure changed. I knew then it was time to get up and wait for the grand finale... the Bald Eagle overlook. At night, the lights of Williamsport and Montoursville can make you think you're decending into a metropolis. Then, down the hill full speed, round the corner in South Williamsport, and cross the metal-grated Market Street bridge. I miss that sound since the bridge was replaced. Anyway, the road doesn't have as much character as it did back then, but it sure is a lot quicker. And it still impresses my kids, even though they're buckled up.

I should explain "Grady" for those of you who accessed this blog from a "Grady’s World" link. "Grady" is the nickname I was given years ago during my earliest days at the Daily Messenger newspaper in Canandaigua. It was given me by Steve Bradley, the long-gone guy who was Sports-Editor at that time. Back then the newspaper was still pasted up — not ‘pyooterized. The scorebox-page was known as the "agate-page." I didn’t know the priorities at first, and Bradley didn’t consider stroke-addlement anything other than a negatory attitude. So when he saw I was doing the agate-page, he’d get angrily frustrated, and make a faint stab at showing me the priorities. ....Which is what I did, but then he’d come over and tear up what I had done — and bellow that I hadn’t done as asked. Finally I got mad: "So what do you actually want?" I asked. "Ya tell me how to do it, I do that, and then ya tear up what ya asked for, saying I didn’t do as asked." So Bradley gave me the name "Grady;" mainly as a put-down. "Grady" is the TV-character I look a little like. The "Grady" name stuck, even long after Bradley went elsewhere. It stayed "Grady" until I retired.
