bmw warranty 2006

I purchased a 2002 BMW 530i back in October 2006 from a Mercedes dealership. It had 42k miles on was sold “as is.” Therefore, I agreed to purchase the extended warranty: 2 years/24k miles. I recently discovered that my vehicle was certified pre-owned and is actually under warranty with BMW for 100,000 miles or 6 six years (exp 6/9/08). I called the Mercedes dealership, and they claim to never have known that BMW warranties follow the vehicle and not the owner. Therefore, the warranty they sold me expired befores BMW’s warranty. I told them I felt cheated out of the $2465.00 I paid for the warranty they sold me since it would have never been used. They told me they had no obligation to refund my money but offered me $1000.00 as a “customer good-will” refund to make things right. In the meantime, I’m out $2465.00. Is there anything I can do? I was thinking of small claims court or contacting FOX news. Any advice?

Take the $1,000 and run!

Unfortunately you signed a contract to purchase the warranty and it is your job as a consumer to do your research before you make any legal commitment (buying your warranty).

I would be thankful that you have a 100k warranty… otherwise you would not even have a warranty now.

Sorry its not the answer you are looking for. However, if you go to court or call the news you may end up with nothing. Take the 1k!

Good Luck!
